Triggers on IMVU are animations, sounds and effects that come with a product your avatar wears or a room you are in. You fire them from the actions menu or by typing the trigger word in chat. Actions are different: they come with every avatar.

How to use triggers on IMVU mobile
- Join a room.
- Tap the emoji icon in the bottom left of the screen.
- Pick the trigger from the list and tap Send.
For a trigger with someone else, pick that person first. You cannot start one with someone who is already in an action with another user.
How to use triggers on IMVU desktop and website
Open the actions menu in the room. Solo, co-op and trigger actions sit in separate dropdowns, and room triggers are listed apart from avatar triggers. Each one shows a thumbnail preview.
How to use triggers on IMVU Classic
Right-click your avatar in a room and choose the trigger from the list. You can also type the trigger word in chat if the product lists one. To allow or block attack and flirt animations, check Account Settings under VIP Preferences.
IMVU trigger words and codes
A trigger word is the text you type in chat to fire a product’s trigger, for example a short code like the name of the move. You find them on the product page in the catalog, in the item’s description. Use our product ID search to look up any product and its creator.
AP triggers and triggers without AP
Some triggers only work with an Access Pass, because they belong to 18+ products or animations. AP and VIP special actions are also only on IMVU Classic. If a trigger needs AP and you do not have it, it will not show up. See how to get AP.
IMVU trigger not working?
- You are not wearing the product. Triggers only work while the item is on your avatar.
- The trigger needs AP or VIP and your account does not have it.
- You are on mobile or web and the trigger is Classic only.
- The other avatar is busy in another action or trigger.
- The animation is blocked in your Account Settings.
Black market triggers
Discord black market servers sell “rare” or ripped triggers for cheap. Ripped products get removed after copyright claims, and accounts that hold them can lose the items. If you want a trigger, buy it from the creator in the catalog. Read more in our IMVU black market guide.
