IMVU Account Disabled or On Hold? How to Get It Back

If IMVU disabled your account, you get an email that says why and whether it is temporary. If your account is on hold, IMVU wants to confirm it is really you before it unlocks it. Both are fixed by filing a ticket with IMVU support.

Why IMVU disables accounts

IMVU lists these as the most common reasons:

  • Unauthorized purchases or suspected fraud
  • Asking for or sharing passwords
  • Receiving or gifting stolen credits
  • Breaking the Terms of Service or Community Guidelines

Buying “cheap credits” from strangers is the most common way regular players end up disabled, because those credits are often bought with stolen cards.

Why IMVU puts accounts on hold

A hold is a security lock, not a punishment. IMVU uses it after a long period of inactivity or a suspicious login, such as a sign-in from a new country.

To lift it, file a ticket or use VIP chat and have this ready:

  • Name and last 4 digits of the card or gift card used for purchases
  • The email address on the account
  • The city, state or country where you registered
  • The birthday on the account
  • The rough date you last logged in

IMVU can also ask for a photo ID and a selfie holding it. If someone else paid for your purchases, that person may have to verify them from their own account.

How to appeal a disabled account

  1. Check the email IMVU sent you. It explains the reason and whether the block is temporary.
  2. If you think it is a mistake, submit a ticket on IMVU’s help center and ask for an appeal.
  3. Wait for support to review it. Do not create new accounts to get around a ban.

Getting back a deleted account

A deactivated account can be restored with the link in the email IMVU sent you, which works for 30 days. A deleted account can only be restored within a few days by contacting support, and IMVU does not guarantee it. Read how to delete or deactivate your IMVU account for the difference.

If someone stole your account

IMVU says its servers are not hacked. Accounts are taken when someone gets the password, through phishing pages, “free credits” offers or people asking to “decorate” your homepage. Reset your password, turn on two-factor authentication and file a ticket.
