Before you can sell anything on IMVU you need the right VIP level and a creator account. Here is what it costs and how you get paid.
1. Get the right VIP
- To submit products you need VIP Platinum, Diamond or Emerald.
- To earn real money (not only credits) you need Platinum or Diamond. If your VIP lapses, earnings switch to credits only.

2. Understand Creator Tiers and the submission fee
Every product you submit costs a fee. At Creator Tier 0 it is 500 credits. Each tier you climb takes 35 credits off, down to 150 credits at Tier 10. Tiers go up as your products sell, so the first few submissions are the most expensive. Plan a small, strong first collection instead of many weak items.
3. Know how you get paid
- Every sale pays you the profit you set on top of the base price.
- With Platinum or Diamond VIP, earnings can be paid out as money.
- Outside the US: send IMVU the W-8BEN tax form, or 30% of your payouts is withheld.
4. Pick your tool
You can submit with Classic Create Mode or IMVU Studio. For derives, either works: you only load images. Studio also opens FBX files, which matters later if you make your own mesh.
Checklist
- VIP Platinum, Diamond or Emerald active.
- Enough credits for your first submission fee (500 at Tier 0) plus the derivable’s cost.
- W-8BEN sent if you live outside the US.
- An image editor that saves PNG (GIMP and Photopea are free).
