The most common IMVU scams all want the same thing: your password or your money. IMVU says free credit generators do not exist, there is no lifetime VIP, and real staff will never ask for your password.
Free credit generators
These sites ask for your avatar name, push you through a “verification” survey and finally show a fake IMVU login page. IMVU’s own help center says credit generators do not exist, with no exceptions. Anyone who types their password there loses the account.
“Lifetime VIP” or “Extreme VIP”
Scammers message players offering lifetime VIP if they send money by Western Union or similar. IMVU says it has no lifetime VIP and only sells VIP in its own store. See the real tiers and prices in our VIP guide.
Fake staff and “verify your account”
Someone posing as staff joins a room or sends a message saying your account will be disabled unless you log in at a link or share your details. Real IMVU staff never ask for your password for any reason.
Black market trade scams
In Discord trading groups the usual traps are: the seller takes the money and blocks you, “cheap credits” that come from stolen cards and get reversed later, and accounts that the original owner recovers after the sale. IMVU’s terms also say sharing accounts is a violation, so a bought account can be closed at any time.
How to stay safe
- Only log in on imvu.com. Check the address bar every time.
- Never share your password or the email on your account.
- Buy credits, VIP and AP only in IMVU’s own store or with official gift cards.
- For rare items, use the official Limited Edition shop.
