To change your IMVU avatar name you need a Name Change Token. Tokens are bought with real money (card, PayPal and similar), not with credits. Each token works once, and the new name must be available.
Step by step
- Buy a Name Change Token on the IMVU website or in the mobile app.
- Open the avatar name change page on secure.imvu.com. It shows how many tokens you have.
- Type the new name twice and confirm your password.
- Click Change Avatar Name. If the name is taken, IMVU tells you and you can try another.
Rules to know before you change
- The new name is permanent until you change it again with another token.
- Tokens can be bought several times and saved for later. Unused tokens stay on your account.
- Tokens cannot be transferred to another account.
- If you sell products or receive credit payouts from partners, sort those out before you change your name.
Can I see my old names?
Yes. Go to Account Tools and click “View name change history” to see the names your account has used.
Can someone take my name if I stop playing?
IMVU says that if an account stays inactive for 12 months or more, the username can be given to another user on request. Log in from time to time to keep it.
